PMRPC Shotgun Ranges

 

When approaching any ranges always read the rule board to find out any range specific rules and what can be shot at this range.

Shotgun

This Range is ALWAYS hot, UNLESS a cease fire has been called or the range is CLOSED

Shotguns must be carried muzzle down and must never be pointed toward the road, seating area, parking lot or buildings. Never mount guns outside of the shotgun fields.  The club’s trap, skeet and sporting clay machines can only be operated by authorized personnel during discipline-sanctioned matches or practice sessions. Shotguns must be unloaded and actions open until they are at their shooting station.

If a gun is assembled at a car, the action must be kept open and the muzzle pointed down. The muzzle must never be pointed toward the road, seating area, parking lot or buildings.

FOR THE SHOTGUN RANGE

  1. A PMRPC-approved skeet range officer must be present to shoot skeet.

  2. The club’s trap, skeet and sporting clay machines can only be operated by authorized personnel during discipline-sanctioned matches or practice sessions.

  3. must be carried muzzle down.  When fitting a gun, shooters must point the gun down range. Guns must never be pointed toward the road, seating area, parking lot or buildings. Never mount guns outside of the shotgun fields.

  4. Shooters must not allow their muzzles to sweep other shooters or bystanders when placing their guns in the racks.

  5. If a gun is assembled at a car, the action must be kept open and the muzzle pointed down. The muzzle must never be pointed toward the road, seating area, parking lot or buildings.

  6. Shooters must keep their guns unloaded and actions open until they are at their shooting station.

  7. Mechanical traps can only be used on fields four and five. 

  8. When using mechanical traps or hand-held throwers, the throwers must stay slightly behind the firing line.

  9. Hand throwers can only be used on Field 5 (the farthest east) or the sporting clays field.

  10. Multiple shooters may be on the firing line, but only one can shoot at a time.

  11. Only one skeet shooter may be on a station at a time.  No skeet shooter may advance to the next station until all shooters have finished

  12. No more than two cartridges can be loaded in a gun at one time.

  13. Never leave a station with a loaded gun or empty hulls in the gun.

  14. Pick up your ejected hulls only after your squad’s shooting is complete.

  15. Shot no larger than 7 ½ may be used. No slugs are allowed on the shotgun fields.

  16. When on the firing line, guns should always be handled so that the muzzles are always pointing either down range toward the shot containment fields or at the ground.
